Teenage Clay Hall of the West Coast Eagles was hurt in a scratch match.
West Coast confirmed that the 18-year-old midfielder would be sent for scans to determine the extent of his injury, so it looks like he will be out for some time.Hall, a product of Peel Thunder and the son of Derek Hall, a forward for Geelong and a former Eagle who played 76 games, was chosen by West Coast with pick 38 in the previous selection.
After the practice game, defender Jayden Hunt mentioned that Hall had impressed him during the preseason and expressed his hope that the injury was not severe. “Seeing that he has been so impressive for an eighteen-year-old around the ball is heartbreaking,” Hunt remarked.
It’s great to see that he’s also exploded out of nowhere in the last few weeks. I know he’ll be disappointed, but maybe it won’t be too horrible. Preseason injuries, according to Hunt, are a given in sports, particularly for a team trying to make a statement this year.
“I detest seeing it; I think that’s kind of league-wide; the way we have to push ourselves, which we have to do, one or two are always going to go down,” he remarked.
“It feels like you’ve been itching to play against real opposition these past few weeks, which is good because it shows the boys are ready.”We undoubtedly raised the bar today, and we’ll need to do so once more.
Hall’s injury comes after West Coast has had a terrible two years due to injuries, during which time they have only achieved five victories. In 2024, the team has already experienced several injury worries. Liam Ryan, for example, will have to start the season later than expected due to hamstring tendon surgery.
Tim Kelly and Jack Darling have both struggled with hamstring problems, and Dom Sheed, a fellow senior star, is uncertain about his availability for the first round due to a foot injury.Yeo has struggled with injuries and hasn’t played in more than 12 games in each of the previous four seasons, but he is healthy again and has performed well this summer.
The 30-year-old is expected to play in the Eagles’ season-opening game on March 17 against Port Adelaide. “After the intra-club game, I’ve never really seen a Yeoy like that on my team,” Hunt remarked. “I’m thrilled to be with him because, although he was a little hurt last year, he has just been completely dominating this year.”
After a demanding few months on the track, Hunt stated he felt optimistic about his own season. “It was a really difficult session, but I feel really good and prepared, so I can definitely go again,” he remarked. At Mineral Resources Park on Saturday, there will be a practice match rivalry between West Coast and Fremantle.
