You know, I wonder if we’ve seen a slight regression in the pass game. They will therefore need to find balance in this game, in my opinion, as Ohio State’s defense is simply much more capable than it has ever been. Obviously, Michigan has been able to wear them down in this game by running the ball, particularly in the fourth quarter. Thus, just kind of continuing to be true to that while producing some impressive pass-game plays down the field.
In terms of defense, there are two things to note: first, TreVeyvon Henderson has improved significantly over the past month and hits home runs each time he touches the ball. Above all, though, it’s Marvin Harrison Jr. You must have a strategy for him. Simply said, you don’t want him to alter the outcome of the game since he is possibly the best college football player.
And that offense can pick up a lot of steam if he kind of picks up and makes some of those huge plays. Thus, from a defensive perspective, they just need to find a way to counter him and prevent him from taking over, while also finding a way to balance their offense and limit TreVeyon Henderson’s home run plays.
Pass protection hasn’t been great for either team
In fact, Ohio State has improved significantly as the season has gone on, especially in their football running. Kyle McCord is being adequately guarded by them. They are therefore most likely heading in the right direction.
This is undoubtedly Michigan’s game; we seen their performance versus Maryland the previous week. Michigan has an excellent defensive line. They will therefore have their hands full. The offensive line of Michigan has me a little more worried. Against Maryland last week, they ran into problems.
They will play the kind of players they did against Penn State, who caused them problems. Tomorrow, they will play some major players, particularly outdoors. Even though Michigan’s offensive line has improved over the past few years, they still need to improve in this game to avoid being exposed and giving McCarthy a difficult day.
The run game in Michigan has recently improved…
That is very significant. You know, you Due to an injury, Blake Corum didn’t play much in this game the previous year. Donovan Edwards had an incredible game; it was almost like his coming out party. Michigan is really fortunate to have two backs like that because you can spell them. In the last two games, Blake Corum has carried 52 times.
Both players are capable of surpassing the 80-yard mark and carrying the ball 25 times when they are in there, but Donovan Edwards has kind of taken a step back this year in terms of his workload.
That fourth quarter, in my opinion, is really where Ohio State has struggled over the past two years. Michigan will grind you because they only need three yards, three yards, three yards. Suddenly, they launch a 50-yard field goal, and that is essentially their offensive style. And because they force you to play for four quarters, that’s why they’re difficult to beat.
That gives them an advantage in this game, but it will be up to Ohio State to attempt to run the football when they go out there. Ohio State will have a strong chance of winning the game if they can gradually slow them down and force them into those passing scenarios.
Why has the second year of J.J. McCarthy’s work improved so much?
It all comes down to confidence. Confidence and experience as a quarterback. And that was actually this game last year. We said, “He managed this game and this season; he was really good last year.” However, in this particular game, he will be required to make a play.
And I believe he completed three or four touchdown passes with his pass. Last year, he had a huge game against Ohio State and finished with 280 yards. He was also a quarterback you might win with the previous season. He was the one who was not going to give up the ball.
You’re winning this year because of him. He’s only taking the next step, in my opinion. Although his numbers have decreased over the past few weeks, he hasn’t actually been required to toss the football. However, it’s evident from the way he plays that confidence is crucial for quarterbacks.
Having played these games and completed those repetitions gives you experience. That’s all there is to it. He will therefore be prepared to play. He is, after all, a gamer. As a starter, he is 23-1; the man simply wins games. Potential first-round pick: he is. He’s a stud, man, and he will be prepared to go.
What do you anticipate taking place?
Thus, you could almost claim that they haven’t been put through a lot of testing yet. Thus, I believe there are still a lot of unanswered questions for both sides in that area.
This game is one of rivalry. Anything is possible. There will be significant plays. There will inevitably be turnover; that is inevitable. This is as huge as it gets, really. I can assure you that it will be entertaining to see. Man, I have no idea how this is going to work out. It’s going to be an amazing game, but I’m wavering.
