Although the loss of Harry Kane was devastating, the team’s efforts to sign James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, and Micky van de Ven gave them hope for a team revival. There was an expectation that it might take some time for the performances and outcomes to improve with such a drastic change in the play’s style.
However, things were different in the beginning as Spurs’ unbeaten start propelled them to the top of the league and gave fans a lot of optimism for the future. Since then, though, things haven’t quite gone as planned; after three straight losses, the team is now in fifth place and is still looking for their next win.
Many of the problems are likely the result of numerous injuries and suspensions in crucial positions, which have highlighted some of the squad depth concerns. Postecoglou needs to stick to his style because it will benefit him in the long run and cause him pain in the short term, whether it is with players who don’t fit his style or those who haven’t played in a while.
It shows Daniel Levy exactly what this team needs to be competitive moving forward, and January provides an opportunity to address that during the transfer window. Although there are several important areas, the forward ranks are one that has been suggested to receive reinforcement.
Spurs are getting more serious about Al-Ittihad winger Jota, reportedly planning a possible loan offer for January, according to a Times report. At Celtic, the Portuguese striker was coached by Postecoglou, who made him a favorite and attracted interest from several teams.
He was drawn to the move to Saudi Arabia because of a summer switch that was connected, but it quickly became apparent that things wouldn’t go according to plan. Due to regulations limiting the number of foreign players allowed, Jota has had very little opportunity to make an impression for his new team, which worked hard to sign players like Fabinho, N’Golo Kante, and Karim Benzema.
Rather, he’s turned into a bit of an outsider, which could mean he leaves during the January transfer window. All parties involved may benefit from the deal, as Spurs are looking to add depth while making prudent financial decisions and game time is desired.
